About the Provider

Description: The goal of our program is to nurture the unfolding of the child's potential by providing love and security, as well as encouragement and appreciation of the child's efforts. We provide a specially prepared environment where the child will find a foundation on which to establish abstract thinking and stimulation, and the opportunity to learn by doing with reality-based concrete materials. This personal involvement and experience gives the child a love of learning that they will take with them for life.

Irvine Montessori School serves Irvine residents as well as the Irvine Business Center. We are a year round school that caters to toddler, preschool, and Kindergarten/1st grade children. Our school promotes the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori, who believed that all deserve the opportunity to become the most complete "person" possible; continuing her work, we are dedicated to growing confidence, creativity and strength in each of the children entrusted to our care.

It was a big decision to enroll my 18 month old son in school and leaving him there for 6 hours for 5 days a week. Although separation anxiety was difficult it turned out to be the best thing we could have done. It was really incredible what he has learned to do from washing dishes to making bead necklaces to painting. Just after a couple month in school he has become more and more independent and has developed his speech and even started wanting to help putting things away at home. His independence, a core Montessori teaching, is something we needed to understand better. After a couple of months in school I learned that he would become frustrated when I help him with things like getting a straw, a cup, milk, snacks, snapping a Lego together. I thought I was just helping him out. I learned that he was frustrated because he wanted to do it himself. That's what's amazing about this school. They teach your kid to be independent - that's how kids learn. If you shelter your kids even from the smallest things like cleaning or putting things aways for them (which is something they really enjoy) they miss out on the day to day learning. The teachers is doing a great job and really connects with him. Ms. Melissa and Ms mary are a great team. They are very friendly and keeps the place clean and orderly. Irvine Montessori has taken great care of my little boy and he has developed many skills is such a short period of time. Sending him to this school - is the best thing we could have done for his development.
