Disappointed Mar 02, 2019
I have used this provider for less than 6 months

Refuses to give out EIN so parents can claim childcare tax credit against her business. I believe it’s a way for her to hide how much her income is, hopefully this can be reported to IRS and they can audit this place. I will be calling.

At the time my child was two years of age and Ms. Lisa was charging $160 a week. This was an oral agreement. No paperwork was signed in regards to rate which should’ve been the first sign but I figured since it’s a home daycare it was no big deal. At the time it was December 2017 and my child would be turning 3 Feb 2018 so we discussed daycare fee decreasing because of her age( which any parent is happy around birthdays because it makes for cheaper childcare). I relayed the info Childcare Resources and got her signed up. She started effect immediately. Everything was great until my child’s birthday (except for minor hiccups ie Plumstead location was closed for some reason so the kids were brought to her home being remodeled and I picked my child up early and found a man at her back door slider renovating and children in the living room & she was in the room he had to get Ms.Lisa for me, that I did not like). So it’s my child’s bday month and she reaches out to me and says my parent fee has increased from $65 to $175 a week so I asked her how much did she tell childcare resources she is charging because my new parent fee is way more than the base rate of $160 she was initially charging for a 2 yr old and I only paid $65 of the $160 because childcare resources paid the rest. She claimed that it always increases when the child turns 3 and I simply told her that does not sound right it usually decreases and in the beginning you said the opposite. She claimed she never said that and I let her know I was reaching out to childcare resources. Upon talking to the Funds Coordinator they said the daycare can charge whatever amount and it can raise the parent fee & there's nothing they could do about it. I called Ms. Lisa and let her know I didn’t want my child attending any longer because it felt scammy, I receive little assistance but when I do I don’t take advantage of the system. She argued me down in front of a parent and both of our kids telling the other parent that I receive childcare resources and I don’t want to pay and mind you she tells the parent you’re an out of pocket payer so it’s always easy. I then just walk away from her she goes inside because at that time it was drizzling rain and kids started walking outside and I told her straight up to be quiet and go inside the house having kids out in the rain. The parent ended up asking my questions still in the driveway and we were talking and I was telling her the issue and she agreed with me at that time Ms. Lisa came back out to argue and told the other parent not to listen to me even thought the parent asked me what happened so I just left because the kids were unattended again and it was raining. After all of this Ms.Lisa wouldn’t let me out the contract until I give a 2 week notice and childcare resources wouldn’t let me either so I didn’t say anything to her didn’t even attempt to argue just dropped my child off the that Monday and kept on with my business but that Tuesday when I go to drop her off I find out she terminated my care I guess she thought she was going to do me wrong last minute but my mother didn’t stay far and brought my child there. I just laughed at her because she thought she was being slick and going to have me miss work or something crazy and again this is the same woman that said no and by that time I had another facility lined up but hey whatever she tried it. Anywho fast forward it is now the end of Jan 2019 and I haven’t received a childcare tax credit payout from childcare resources so I reach out and they let me know that I would get that from the provider. I called Ms. Lisa hesitantly but decided we’re adults this is business. She answers the phone and says “How dare you call me after making a bad review about me” (mind you this is my first review I’m guessing she’s talking about the other parents review) but I let her know I didn’t and I’m calling because I need her EIN so I can file my childcare tax credit. She hangs up the phone and doesn’t answer when I called her back. I left her a voicemail and let her know I recorded my voicemail because she has a tendency to lie on people. She immediately calls me back and says that I can’t claim her business on my taxes because my child only attended her daycare for 3 months. We all know that is not a law so I’m not sure why she said that but she hung up agian and refuses to give me the EIN to file. I’ve contacted childcare resources but they said it’s nothing they can do about it and they don’t even know who I can report this to. I contacted the Better Business Bureau but they had no luck either.

I’m going to agree with the Concerned Parent as far as Ms. Lisa (Owner) being great with children. My child never complained or said anything bad about Ms. Lisa. Secondly, again I have to agree with Concerned Parent that Ms.Lisa does try to get over on people that receive Childcare Resources. At the time my child was two years of age and Ms. Lisa was charging $160 a week. This was an oral agreement. Everything was great until my child’s birthday (except for minor hiccups ie; never receiving receipts for payment & always having to ask, she closed the school on a snow day and did not notify me until I got to her home and was wondering why no one answered the door-she then stated they’re going off of CMS schedule but still unprofessional also Plumstead location was closed for some reason so the kids were brought to her home being remodeled and I picked my child up early and found a man at her back door slider renovating and children in the living room(soon as you walk in slider) and she was in the room he had to get Ms.Lisa for me, that I did not like) but anywho it’s my child bday month and she reaches out to me and says my parent fee has increased from $65 to $175 a week so I asked her how much did she tell childcare resources she is charging because my new parent fee is way more than the base rate of $160 she was initially charging for a 2 yr old and mind you I only paid $65 of the $160 because childcare resources paid the rest. The owner Ms. Brooks (Lisa) is good with kids which is A+ but she definetly tries to get over on parents that receive childcare assistance. They will tell you one rate and then up the rate. When my daughter first enetered this school she was two and she told me verbally it was $150/week when she turned three she claimed her rate has always been $175/week. Why would you charge more money for a three yr old ? All parents are happy when daycare aged kids get older because it’s cheaper. This was brought up 3 days before she wanted me to start paying $400 a month on the first. I should’ve known because I never signed any paperwork with her aside from a parent contact form and letting them know she has no allergies. It’s been a back and forth for 2days and I just told her I’ll pay it and then I’m transferring and they require two weeks notice, no problem. Today she tells my worker she’s terminating my childcare. I strongly believe she did that to try and have an upper hand but I have family that can watch my child until she starts her new school this same week lol. Great with children but don’t come here with a voucher she’ll try to get over. She even wanted me to stop paying with money orders .. I told her money orders protect myself and the daycare. I could only imagine if I started paying cash and getting no receipt what she would say. Sometimes working families getting assistance get taken advantage of or the state should I say. Also today when I dropped my daughter off some man was fixing her sliding door with the kids in the living room. I waited 5mins before he said do you need Lisa and I’m like yes ! He called out to her and she came from out a bedroom. Why would you leave a man around kids unattended ? Just because you know him the parents don’t. That was unacceptable.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I am a parent, my son went to this daycare for about 3 years, the caregiver Lisa came off very pleasant but there were a lot of incidents with my son while in her care. The caregiver would constantly leave the kids with her daughter whom I don't want to diagnose but seems to have narcolepsy, she could not stay awake. Every incident that I was aware of was under the daughters watch whom I'm not even sure was licensed. The 1st incident was when my son was about 2, the daughter fell asleep & my 3 year old son was molested by a child at least 4 years older than him, another incident was when I came to pick my son up the daughter was supposed to be watching him, she was sitting outside in the car (asleep) and my son was standing outside of the car alone in the driveway. He could've easily ran into the street or an oncoming car could've hit him in the driveway, The caregiver assured me that her daughter would not be looking after the children anymore but that was only temporary, one of the neighbors has photos of the SWAT team running into the daycare, they had the caregivers adult son in the daycare at gunpoint while the children were there. The caregiver never reported this information to me. I had to hear this from my 3 year old child and the neighbor who showed me the photos. They need to be shut down, this place is definitely not a safe environment for children.
