I am new to Savannah GA I moved here August 1st, 2022. I am a single parent of a two-year-old daughter and a twelve-year-old son. I started researching and looking for childcares for my daughter. As most of you parents that have two-year-old toddlers know, it is extremely hard to find childcare for this age group.
So, when I discovered Growing Minds Academy owned by Brittany Gordon in Garden City, GA,had an opening I was elated.
I met with Brittany Gordon on Friday August 5th at the Childcare facility. Upon arriving to the facility, I was not impressed the outside appearance of the facility due to the overgrown grass, the old and broken toys, and just overall unkempt appearance, speaking to Brittany on the phone because at the time she seemed exceedingly kind and sweet. When I met with Brittany, She also informed me that she had gotten a degree in children’s education, and that all her employees were CPR certified, and had years of childcare experience. We even discussed me coming to the childcare at some point and giving CPR training when the staff needed to renew their certifications since I am an Emergency Room Trauma Registered Nurse, and BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor as well. After our conversation I was impressed and decided that my daughter should be enrolled. So I completed the documents and Paid Brittany a $ 100.00 registration fee, and $ 160.00 for the first week. I informed Brittany that my daughter would come on Monday August the 8th, because I had a 10:30 a.m. Job interview. I explained to her that I would drop her off around 0945 and she would only be there for the duration of the interview.
On Monday morning I arrived at the daycare around 10:08am to find that all the doors were locked, and I had to stand outside for 15 minutes knocking on all the doors. Finally, a staff member came to the door, and directed me to knock on the very last door to speak with Brittany’s mother. I told her I was there to drop my daughter off and she immediately told me that I could not drop her off because the cut of time was 10 a.m., and this was something that they started enforcing that week because of other parents dropping their children off all times of the day. I tried to explain to her that I was not fully aware of all the policies yet and this was my daughters first day. She did not care, told me leave the building and go outside and call her daughter Brittany Gordon. I was in shock that she treated me that way, and immediately called Brittany. I explained to Brittany that after what had just taken place that I would not be bringing my daughter back to the childcare facility and would like my money refunded. Brittany told me to give her 5 minutes and she would call me back. She never called back, so I had to call her several times before she answered. When she finally answered the phone, she old me that she would not be giving me my money back because I was upset that they would not accept my daughter. I immediately told her that was not the case at all. I told her that because of the way I was spoken to and how I was treated caused to come to that decision. I even told Brittany that she could keep the $100.00 registration fee, but I would like the $160.00 that I paid in advanced to be refunded because no services would be rendered, she still refused. At one point I decide that I would just let it go, and I even texted her telling this. But for some reason Brittany decided to call me and she stated these words, “What do you need some gas money or something, because I can help you out with that, but from a business standpoint I’m not giving any of you money back.” I was truly perplexed and in disbelief that someone that Is supposed to be a professional business owner would call someone and say something like that. I needed to write this review so that other parents are aware that her heart is truly not in the right place. I urge you to seek other childcare facilities. I also spoke to several other daycares in the area who stated that she did not have a right to keep the money. I hope this saves someone else a headache.
