Both our children have attended Green Tree since 4-5 months old. Our youngest is now in the Preschool Room. Green Tree is a wonderful community with amazing teachers. Most of the teachers have been there for years and also cared for our older son. It has a very low turn over rate for staff a testament to the school community, director and support for staff. During this trying time with COVID, it has meant so much to have our son somewhere where we know the staff and teachers are taking precautions seriously. Since the center reopened in late June as of early Jan there have been so far no cases of COVID amongst staff or children, a testament to the care of the entire community. Students in preschool and pre-k are consistently and contentedly wearing masks. We look forward to returning to riding transit with our son, but until then there is a really easy drop-off parking and easy entry so you do not need to go into the parking garage or use an elevator. Also the center has really easy on/off access to I5. The center is supported as a benefit to federal employees and has their rent subsidized so there is more stability in the center and ability to invest tuition in staff and child resources. Having children out of the house makes working from home much easier : )
I cannot recommend Green Tree enough. We had a phenomenal experience in both the infant and toddler rooms. First, the teachers are so caring, as an infant I would feed our daughter during drop off so I got to see first hand how engaged and nurturing the teachers were. My husband and I even jokingly referred to one of her teachers as "daycare mom" because our daughter formed such a loving and strong bond with her.
I always felt like she was in good hands when we dropped her off and this was confirmed by daily pictures, videos and updates sent through an app from her teachers.
Our daughter thrived at Green Tree. She was consistently hitting development milestones ahead of schedule and I honestly believe the environment there helped facilitate that. They offered such a perfect blend of engaging activities, independent play, and loving support. We were always so impressed at the new skills our daughter would come home from daycare displaying (that my husband and I certainly didn't teach her!)
It comforted me knowing Green Tree was nationally accredited. Compared to other daycares we toured Green Tree was by far the cleanest! It's in a beautiful new building (shared with the EPA) downtown with excellent security, spacious rooms, and big windows for the kids to see outside. I especially appreciated things like the "shoes off" rule for the infant room.
On top of this, Green Tree has handled the pandemic with such grace. All of their practices follow CDC guildlines and they have taken every precaution from adding dedicated time for cleaning/sanitization in the morning and evening to temperature checks, to drop offs in the lobby, to mandatory masks for all teachers. I've been particularly impressed by the frequent email updates from the director if a child is unwell or is being tested. Communication from the center director has been excellent and I've so appreciated the transparency during this particularly stressful time.
We started at Green Tree just before my daughter turned 6 months and were there (aside from their closure during the peak of the COVID crisis) until my daughter was 16 months. Making the decision to leave was so sad and difficult for both my husband and me (neither of us work downtown and a daycare spot opened up 5 minute walk from our apartment). I highly recommend Green Tree, your child will be in such excellent hands there. This is truly a special place we will miss so much!
