Montessori education focuses on learning through concrete manipulation of objects and materials in a prepared learning environment. Students are able to select works in the classroom that pique their interest and either choose to work on it independently or in collaboration with another child.
The Reggio approach that we utilize in the afternoon portion of the day focuses on group projects and collective learning with all subject areas being integrated.
The Montessori and Reggio pedagogies stem from the same philosophies of learning and blend extremely well together, stressing the student as the builder of knowledge and the teacher as a facilitator. They are both designed to provide opportunities for each child to grow and experience social awareness, emotional well-being, physical development, and academic pursuits.
