Write a review about Govans Presbyterian Preschool. Let other families know what’s great, or what could be improved. Please read our brief review guidelines to make your review as helpful as possible.
I have heard many great things about Govans Presbyterian Preschool and have attended the church for many years. Additionally, my older niece and nephew attended the preschool and had a wonderful experience. I believed in this preschool so much, that I would drive 30-45 minutes (depending on traffic) to bring my daughters there each morning. My daughters would still be there, if my sister had not randomly picked them up early last October.
On October 13, 2020 my sister walked onto the playground and found a teacher vigorously shaking my 3-year-old daughter. The "teacher" later admitted to shaking my daughter ("to get her attention"). Additionally, I was not informed until about a week of other abusive incidents. During one incident, the same teacher pulled my 3-year-old off of a deck shed (approx. 26 inches high) by her ankle and onto the ground!
To my knowledge, Govand did not report any of these incidents to any parent (including myself) or to child protective services.
I was told that they did not know how to handle this situation and that this has never happened before. However, after finding this website, I discovered that there was a similar complaint for child abuse in October 2019 (an entire year prior to the incident with my daughter) and they failed to report that incident as well.
My family has been TOTALLY devastated by this! Govans has been my family's church for years and it is still hard to accept that they allowed this to happen to my daughter, and covered it up! It is also very hard to know that I do not have a church home anymore.
I am leaving my full name so that anyone can look up my information and contact me if necessary. As this has happened to another family a year before, it is likely that others have experienced similar issues. So, if something similar has happened to you child at Govans Presbyterian Preschool, and they tell you that this has never happened before, please know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
