About the Provider

Description: The CDC seeks to assist families in establishing a strong foundation for spiritual, intellectual, and overall growth. We are committed to promoting and supporting all aspects of a child’s development in an atmosphere of love and respect. Our educational program is based on sound principles of child development for children ages six weeks to twelve years. The activities are designed to promote independence and foster development in the social/emotional, cognitive and physical domains. In order to meet these goals we use the Abeka Curriculum, incorporating Bible stories, prayer and song. On Wednesdays of each week we have chapel in the sanctuary, led buy are pastor Dr. Farren Roper.

Beware of taking your child to this day care. 1)They are understaffed. Sometimes having only 1 teacher for up to 11 students 2) They are quick to make you pick up your child by saying there are behavioral problems or by saying they have a fever. 3) they've even gone as far as reporting abuse to DCF to get your child off the roster if they are unable to manage him or her. 4) children are frequently shuffled around to other classrooms due to staffing issues. So consistency and routine are values that might not be heavily instilled. This may be due to the higher than normal turnover rate and employee moral issues I've heard other current and past clients speak about. I don't belive they are unprofessional or bad people. They are just trying to get by like everyone else. My child actually learned a great deal there but I do however believe that by having inexperienced staff that is burdened with an excessive work load and they have bitten off more than they can chew. The fact that abuse was reported by them should scare you. They have no reservations in doing so. Clearly. To me, these are attributes of a daycare that has abandoned it's goal of providing a Christian daycare environment for a different goal of monetary gain, despite being unable to fulfill their duties in an efficient manner by well qualified staff. I have spoken with other parents who share the same view. Unfortunately, since daycare is a rare commodity there aren't many choices and some feel there is no better option. Do your research first. If your child isn't perfectly well behaved you may want to consider a more attentive, organized and focused daycare. There are usually waiting lists, so plan ahead.

Happy mom 2015-01-14 14:47:05

My child has been attending FBCDC since 2011.. I have always been happy with the way the school is run and all of the teachers. The director is willing to work with me because I am on a tight budget and the staff has always been friendly. It is the first daycare he ever attended and I would not put him anywhere else.

Our 4 year old was excited to start here but within a week she started crying and screaming at just the mention of daycare. She wouldn't say why. When I picked her up everyday I would ask what she did, she got real quite and refused to tall about it. Her grandma quizzed her some and she told her that they yelled at her when she cried and they threw her lunch away. I was sending enough for 2 kids due to fact she is picky eater and I wanted to be sure she had choice and if she didn't want something the lunch box always came home empty, strangely. We asked teacher if she ate and they said yes but she would start crying for food the minute she got into car. We withdrew her and asked for a refund caise we payed a month in advance.that was thurs. On Friday dcf shows up at our home. First baptist filed a complaint of child neglect and abuse on us the day after we asked for refund. They said in report that daughter was to weak to put her own mat away due to being manurished and that she was emaciated and to small for her age. She's 36 inches tall and 30lbs. All the women in wife's family are very small statured. Luckily we had already taken daughter to white western pediatrics and they had done a physical on daughter and found her to be perfectly healthy and withing range of acceptable height and weight. We also had the ROANE school book and applications on counter. The dcf worker witnessed the books and asked us about them we examined we pulled daughter out of baptist and registered her at roane which is twice the tuition compared to first baptist. A few weeks later we received mail from dcf stating case was closedand allegations were ununfounded and no further actions would occurr. We considered filing maltreatment report on them but didn't have enough detailed info to effectively file so we chose to just be happy we took her out. The first day at roane school she totally changed and looks forward to going every day. But she still has anxiety about her in eaten leftovers . She repeatedly ask to save it for later and for it not to be thrown away... there was some maltreatment for sure went on I do not recommend this place at all. Happy to say within 2 weeks of being at roane the director told us she was to advanced for 4 year old program and put her in VPK. She just turned 4 Oct 6th this year... it's my opinion first baptist filed dcf report to dispelled any negative actions we may have taken. If that is the case what a tragic way to run a place.
