We were at this school for over two years and the only reason I've given this school a star is because there isn't an option for less.
Don't ever believe anything the Director, Elaine says. She will do or say anything to try to pacify an issue that has been brought to her attention without any intention to look into or correct it. The owner Raj has such good intensions but a terrible owner due to the fact that he is constantly manipulated by Elaine.
The turnover is unreal. The teachers that they have managed to keep aren't qualified or certified to teach pre-k. When asked the answer is always "they're in the process of getting certified".
The rooms are completely chaotic. No structure what so ever. When one teacher leaves the new one coming in completely changes the room around along with the children's schedule. Anyone working in childcare knows kids need structure and consistency. Stay away from this school there are so many more in the area that are so much better.
I worked here for 16 months and from the beginning I had repeatedly brought issues about the Exploratorium teacher to the director and how she talks to and treats the children. She is demeaning, intimidating and humiliates the children. Nothing was ever done, it was just blown off. Then she verbally threatened a 3 yr old to cut her feet off if she didn't stop playing with her sandals and on another occasion she told a school age boy that she would shove the pencil up his nose because he was playing with it by his nose. Four teachers witnessed these incidences and reported it to mngmt..nothing was done. It was reported to state licensing but they cannot make them fire someone without any charges. The directors are personal friends with this teacher so I guess their friendship was more important than the emotional and physical safety of the children.
It is disturbing that she is still employed and has daily interaction with the children enrolled in this school. I found it even more disturbing that the owner tolerates and allows this kind of behavior with a teacher.
You can look this up on the Family and Protective Services under licensed day cares.
This school is great. From the owner, Raj, to the director, Elaine, and all of the teachers, it is the place to be. It is very welcoming, and everyone is nice and friendly. We looked at dozens of schools before deciding on this one. And, I'm convinced that we could not have made a better choice!
