About the Provider

Description: Copperkids is a state licensed facility, providing care for up to 90 children, with current enrollment at 67 children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
We are a Quality First center in the First Things First program which provides a star rating based on Copperkids’ quality of care, classroom functions and activities; provides high quality training for our teachers; and provides family scholarships based on our star rating. We currently have 7 active scholarships from FTF.
We are an Empower Center, promoting healthy lifestyles, including healthy food choices and structured lesson plans including physical activities daily. We are partnering with United Way to help promote healthy living chioces. We also are a part of USDA’s CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program), starting in the fall 2014.
We are a qualifying DES Center, which also provides some scholarships for low income families.
We are a part of NAEYC (National Association of Education of Young Children), Raising a Reader, and are promoting early Common Core in our curriculum.
Copperkids is always involved in furthering our teachers’ education in Early Childhood Development, and is currently offering 3 scholarships towards college degrees in ECE.

Findings: During a review of the Facility's Statement of Child Care Services and the Surveyors' observations, it was determined that the Statement of Services did not include 5 of the 18 required elements of Child Care Services below: ** Child admission and release requirements ** Responsibilities and participation of parents in facility activities ** A description of the liability insurance required by R9-5-308 that is carried by the licensee and a statement that documentation of the liability insurance coverage is available for review on the facility premises ** Medication administration procedures ** A statement that a parent has access to the areas on facility premises where the parent's enrolled child is receiving child care services.

Findings: Based on facility documentation and the Surveyors' observations, the attendance records for 3 out of 15 enrolled children whose records were reviewed lacked: 1) Child #1 was not signed out on 11/13/2020; 2) Child #2 was not signed out on 11/16/2020; 3) Child #3 was not signed out on 11/4/2020.

Findings: Based on Surveyor review of 6 staff files and interview with the Director, it was determined that 2 of the 6 staff files lacked documentation verifying that results of a negative Mantoux skin test given to a staff member was within 12 months before the starting date of employment. * Staff #2-starting date of employment-9/11/2019. The file had documentation indicating that a negative Mantoux skin test was read on 9/18/2019 * Staff #3-starting date of employment-8/5/2019. Findings: Based on Surveyor's observations and interview with the Director, it was found that the 3's/4's room was not implementing the activity schedule the day of the inspection (11/25/2019) as the schedule had outside play on it at 3:30 PM but the enrolled children were not outside on the activity area.

Findings: Based on Surveyor observation and interview with the Director, it was found that one Infant in the Infant classroom had their entire body swaddled while they were sleeping in the crib. The facility did not have written permission from their physician allowing them to be swaddled.

Findings: Based on Surveyor observation, the menu for the facility and interview with the Director determined that the posted menu did not list the specific type of fruit juice which was served on several days to the children.

Findings: During a review of the children's attendance records and interview with the Director, Surveyor determined that 2 of 18 children's sign in/out records were incomplete. 1) Child #3 was not signed out and lacked a time out on 11/5/2018 through 11/8/2018; 2) Child #4 was not signed out and lacked a time out on 11/15/2018.

The facility itself is A DREAM!

I've never been to a childcare center that has made my child or myself feel this way

My son is 3...very,very smart.
And THANK GOD for COPPER KIDS he is getting smarter and smarter!
