About the Provider
Kepley Daycare was established in January 2010 by Claire Kepley. I am located in Ulysses, KS and am a licensed daycare provider. I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and I taught for four years before becoming a stay at home wife and mom. I have worked in school and daycare settings since I was in high school. I frequently attend trainings given by ChildCare Aware, SMART Start, KCCTO, and CACFP. I believe in building children's skills at their developmental level (EX: Working on motor skills with an infant; working with preschool aged children on skills needed for kindergarten). We build skills through play, day to day experiences, and hands on activities. I believe in positive, but firm discipline. If a behavior occurs that needs corrected, children are first redirected to another activity. If the behavior continues, the child is given one warning. After the warning, if the behavior happens again, the child will be given a time out. The length of the time out if decided by the child's age (EX: One year old: one minute time out; Two year old: two minute time out; etc.). If behaviors continue after the time out, parents will be notified at the end of the day. Parents will be called at work for severe behavior issues. If the child becomes a danger to other children in care, parents will be notified and the child will be given one day to correct the behavior. If the behavior is not corrected in that time, parents will be asked to keep their child home for the remainder of the week or the full next week if something happens on a Friday. When the child returns, if they continue to be a danger to others, parents will be asked to make other arrangements for their child as soon as possible. Parents are expected to supply diapers and wipes for their children. Desitin diaper rash creme is kept on hand. If parents would like another product used, they may supply that also. We participate in the USDA/CCAFP food program. This allows meals and snacks to be provided at no extra cost. Infants may have breast milk or formula. Wal-Mart generic brand formula is provided. If parents would like to use breast milk or another type of formula, they may provide that. My hours of operation are from 7:30-5:15, Monday thru Friday. If drop off or pick up times need to be changed, that can be done as long as I am notified prior to the schedule change.
