Description: Charlotte Bowden is a Listed Family Home in DENISON TX, with a maximum capacity of 3 children. The provider does not participate in a subsidized child care program.
I went here when I was young. Some of the memories are suppressed, but I'll try my best to remember. From 2009-2011, when I was as 2-4, I went here. The experience was terrifying. Charlotte would scream at children for doing things she didn't like. For example, I took a peek into her son's room, without going in there, and she yelled at me. She would make the kids walk on her back when it felt bad, and I think she smoked inside sometimes too. That, though, I'm not sure about. One time, I got sick here, and she gave me a chew-able tablet to help, but I don't think she asked my parents first. She would swear in front of the children too, which isn't the best idea considering these are young kids who learn and talk. Her mother, who is now in a nursing home, paddled the kids when she thought they deserved it, and when kids were put into the time-out center, they were right in front of Charlotte's mother, or as we called her, Nanny. Nanny would also wash kids' mouths out with soap. This wasn't an empty threat either. She actually did it. Whenever the parents would come to pick us up, their whole demeanor changed, and they put on fake smiles and told them how good we were. I don't know if this place is still in business, but if it is, PLEASE, do not bring your child here.
