Concerned parent Mar 15, 2022
I have used this provider for more than 6 months

To all concerned parents. I would caution you against using Caterpillar Development Center for your children’s safety. My son was injured in Dec. of 2021 and Caterpillar initially attempted to misrepresent the cause of the incident. The facility contacted my wife and alluded that my son injured himself while playing. My wife and I responded to Caterpillar and discovered my son with a dangling arm. I asked the owner if there was any video available due to all the video cameras on the property and she stated she has not reviewed video. During the initial meeting about my son’s injuries, I noticed they were giving him leading questions like, “How did you fall off the fence?” and “How did you hurt yourself?”
I noticed my son would not look the staff members in the eyes and kept looking down to the floor as his arm was still dangling in pain. I then took my son outside in my arms and asked him what really happened? He continued to look at the ground and I asked him again on how did he get hurt? He whispered, “Teacher hurt me…”. I then notified my wife and she demanded the daycare to have video ready and available when we returned from the doctors office.
While receiving medical treatment for my son, the nurse-practioner stated that my son’s injuries were not consistent with a fall or impact and that it was likely that of a jerking movement. The medical staff did say that it was likely that my son would gain movement and use of his arm again within the next week or two. If it did not get better, he would have to get an MRI and possibly get surgery. The medical staff diagnosed his injury as a severe “strain.”
Upon returning to the daycare, I spoke to the staff and owner and advised them what the medical staff stated. The owner immediately began to cry and said that she was sorry, it was an accident, and they would cover all medical expenses. My wife and I then reviewed the video and observed that the reported incident that my son injured himself was false. A staff member had grabbed his little hands and yanked him away. Then she would not let him go and we observed he was not doing anything wrong. The daycare staff stood in a circle with additional staff and started having small talk. My son continued to try to get away and she would not let him go of his arm. On the video, my son could be see lifted off the ground by his one arm… He’s three (03) years old….
I then told them to save the video and I will get back with them. The owner stated she would save the video. I then sought legal counsel to remedy this situation from any other children getting hurt and to have my son receive compensation from his injury and his traumatic event. I have a son who’s afraid of speaking or going near people now…
Our attorney sent a letter demanding that all evidence be preserved. I have now found out that Caterpillar claims to have “accidentally” deleted the video and the only video available is on the owner’s phone. I then discovered my son was not only hurt on the video I saw but in fact was hurt worse during a previous incident that very day by another staff member. I was able to view the new video and it shows ANOTHER daycare staff grab my son’s wrist and JERK him up and then hold him off the ground! How many other times has this happened, what other kids have been hurt and the matter has been covered up?
For any current or future parents who think Caterpillar Development Center is a safe place for their child to attend; I would highly recommend you consider putting your children somewhere else. The toll this has taken on my child and my family is pretty bad and I would hope this helps you protect your child from what happened to our child. Stay away from Caterpillar Development Centers.
