Description: Carmel Mountain Preschool (CMP) is a San Diego, California based preschool situated between 4S Ranch, Poway, Carmel Valley and Santaluz. Opened in 1983 by Dan and Pauline Condrick, the school was intended to fill the need of what was then the new community of Rancho Penasquitos. For over thirty years, Carmel Mountain Preschool has provided a loving, supportive educational environment where children can participate in programs that promote individual growth and a lifelong love of learning. The school is located on a stunning three-acre lot, offering ample space for children to learn, grow, discover, and explore, all while under the guidance of its caring and professional staff.
At Carmel Mountain Preschool, we believe that a child's preschool years are a crucial period for literacy development, which is why Carmel Mountain Preschool offers a well-rounded curriculum that is aligned to - and exceeds - state standards. Our exceptional teachers and staff provide an environment that is rich with materials and programs that offer opportunities for growth by providing the foundation necessary to enhance a child's skills and potential. We believe that by instilling such traits at an early stage, our students will have the necessary tools to help them become achievers in later years. All of these factors are focused on helping your child arrive at a higher level of academic achievement, as well as encourage social and emotional growth, which in turn, results in children who are confident learners and have higher self-esteem.
Our curriculum showcases a balance between superior academics, developmentally appropriate practices and extraordinary fun. Our programs are filled with a variety of learning settings; language arts and literacy, science and math, sensory and dramatic play and music and movement, creating a well balance early education experience. This compelling curriculum is further reinforced by a strict student-teacher ratio of 1:12 for preschoolers, 1:6 for toddlers and two’s allowing teachers to properly address each child's individual needs, strengths while keeping parents up-to-date on their child’s progress both in and outside the classroom. This small class size allows for a more personal level of instruction, and also serves as an environment in which to foster positive discipline and help impress important core values such as teamwork, cooperation, responsibility, fairness, and honesty in our students.
Carmel Mountain Preschool offers safe, caring, hands-on developmentally-appropriate programs for children in all our programs. In addition, we also provide outstanding care for elementary school students before and after school, as well as, full time care for many public and school holidays.

Our daughter started at Carmel Mountain Preschool this fall when she turned 18 months (the minimum age). My wife had attended CMP in the 1980's when she was little, so she loved having our daughter share the same excellent facility that she had learned, played, and gained social skills at in the years before elementary school. Some of the original staff are still around making CMP great! 30 years later and they have now expanded their school footprint with multiple buildings, playgrounds, fields, and even solar panels! The class our daughter is in is taught by two loving, sweet and amazing women. We get e-mail updates regularly with photos and the school regularly hosts family interactive activities (concerts, picnics, school performances) so there is definitely a real effort by CMP to keep the parents involved. We will very likely have our daughter at CMP for all 4 years till she starts elementary school. Thanks Carmel Mountain Preschool for being a safe and amazing place for our daughter!
