About the Provider

Description: The curriculum is not child centered or teacher directed. The curriculum is child originated and teacher framed...We have given great care in selecting the term 'negotiated curriculum' instead of emergent or child centered curriculum. We propose that 'negotiated curriculum' better captures the constructive, continual and reciprocal relation among teachers, children and parents and better captures the negotiations among subject matter: representational media and the children's current knowledge.

Happy Mom! Jul 09, 2012

My daughter is in her 3rd year at CCG and she absolutely loves it, as do I. We have recently registered our youngest, which we were planning on waiting until she was 3 in February. We have felt so comfortable with the director and the teachers, and have been more than thrilled with our 4 year olds progress, that we enrolled our youngest earlier then we had planned. Our children feel very safe and loved here. If you are unsure of where to look for your little ones, I can't recommend this place enough. Being a former teacher myself, I appreciate how I see the teachers taking special care of all of the kids. When we drop off our girls, we never see the teachers just standing around talking. They are always engaged with the kids. The director is also wonderful and goes out of her way to make accommodations for us.

I can't recommend Children's Garden enough!

The setting is great, but if you pay attention it gets downright ugly.

Frequently the older children are left unattended by a staff member, or under-attended while a teacher goes inside to get something or chat with the director.  Any parent paying attention at drop off and pickup will notice these things.

Licensing requires that no more than 12 children be supervised by one teacher; often there are 18-20+ children in the yard with a single teacher.

Nearly daily, when I drop off my son,  two teachers and the director are in the director's office chatting while two rooms of students are left alone.

The director talks a good bit about what she thinks parents want to hear, but she has also been overheard to call children "dumb as a stump" and call herself  "the Anti Christ".  Not a very loving day-to-day environment, in my mind.

The school welcomes children with special needs, but at the same time the director has no patience for them in group settings and will get in the faces of two-year-olds and yell at them for being loud inside.

The director has also force fed a three year old with special needs who refused to eat a piece of fruit.

In my opinion, pass on this school in lieu of someone you can trust.

This place is a charming little school held in a house converted into a giant children's oasis. There is so much to explore and do here, my daughter LOVES it here. They are attentive, caring and appear not to be overloaded with too many children. Finally, a place truly for and about the KIDS and not the money they can get for stuffing the rooms. We are tres' happy here!
