Connect, Seek Advice, Share Knowledge
Where do I even begin? I had the worst experience working at this preschool. This was my first job after graduating from a prestigious UC with a stem degree in Human Development. I have taken a plethora of classes on child development, have a completed an internship that expanded my knowledge in early childhood education, and I have had other several classroom experience. I was extremely qualified for this job. I had a variety of ideas that could help the kids be engaged in their learning and I would have loved to implement them in my classroom. However, the TA, Miss Alex, was incredibly rude to me since I have started working there when I was nothing but nice and open to her ideas. Every idea that I had was shut down by Alex. Even if it was a good idea. She went around behind my back asking if I really did earn my Bachelor's degree and if I was qualified. At my last day there, she was extremely hostile, yelled at me, and made me cry over a small disagreement. I've never felt so disrespected in my life. The boss, Miss Kit, seems to not know what is going on in the classroom and between teachers. The only thing she is focused on is money. There were many occasions when I got in trouble because of something was out my control (eg., a kid losing their toy, or a kid forgetting to bring in their water bottle). I got in trouble for those things because Miss Kit is a people pleaser not because she cares for the kids, but because she only cares about the money that comes out of the parents pockets. There are a lot of unprofessional situations that go on in that work environment that she is too blind to see. Working here made me feel uncomfortable and undervalued. It was not worth the five years of hard work to earn my degree. I would advise anyone to avoid working here. There is nothing but drama and unfortunately, the poor kids have to undergo the consequences of that. Also in this particular school, if you're not Asian, you don't really fit in with the exception of Miss Alex.
