My son attended bright start for a year. This is my only child, I didn't know what to expect. At first the teacher there was great! My son flourished and was excited to attend. However, over the next few months things changed. Then changed again. The main teacher he connected with left abruptly. Her departure was followed by what seemed like an endless stream of young, very young, teachers, who were obviously overwhelmed and addicted to their cell phones. My son started coming home with bruises and no word on how he got them. I started getting messages from his daycare that he was running around too much, being aggressive and that they we're too overwhelmed to handle his behavior. They had me leave work to get him 5 times in one month because he was being loud and had too much energy. He came home with a black eye the following week, no incident report, phone call...not a word about my 4 year olds black eye but they will call you if he's running too much? This was strange. He told me his school mad him feel like a bad person, that a teacher hit him, he started begging not to go. In my own presence and in front of my mother, a teacher allowed a child to push and hit my son and did not intervene. I had to step in. They were so quick to reprimand him for running and being loud but not to stand up for him when he's hurt or send a report as they are legally obligated to do. We contacted a child psychologist to talk to him, to see if he was being hit by a teacher or was having issues behaviorally. I didn't want to push too hard, kids can make things up after all. After numerous appointments with doctors, therapist and more calls to pick up my son from school, I decided enough is enough. The therapist stated my son's behavior to be typical of a 4 year old and recommended I remove him from this school. I did so immediately. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 due to the fact that the first 3 months with Ms. Joy there were great!
