About the Provider
Welcome to Beachwood Elementary, the pride of Fort Lewis. We would like to welcome all of our returning parents and students and offer a special welcome to new Beachwood family members to the 20010-11 school year. A major focus here at Beachwood is to move from the older traditional jump through the hoops of education to educating your child for the 21st century. To accomplish this, we must move away from the “work†or hoops of education to a much deeper learning that is individualized to meet the learning needs of every learner. This last year we had a number of changes to focus on improving student learning and powerful instruction to ensure your child(ren) are prepared for the 21st century. Here are some of those changes that had a significant impact.t Beachwood, each grade level is meeting every other week to create common unit plans focused on the new state performance expectations. The unit plans are the first part of the Plan/Act/Reflect bimonthly cycle with our Classroom Coach Meghan. With a focus on work vs. learning. The classroom coach visits each classroom two times a month and offers coaching to each teacher to ensure each teacher gets the professional development growth that each individual teacher needs to help all students succeed.
