Description: For more than forty-five years, our agency has been preparing children for success in school and creating a foundation for life-long learning. Beginning with an initial organization in 1969, then adding Continuing Development Incorporated (CDI) in 1976 and Child Development Centers (CDC) in 1984, CDI/CDC was founded to provide learning materials and services to both state subsidized and private child care centers. This business quickly expanded to become the preschool and school age programs we operate today. They are managed by Child Development, Inc. In addition to providing infant/toddler and preschool programs, after school programs on elementary campuses expanded dynamically in the late 80s and early 90s. Over the last 40+ years, we have grown as State subsidies and family needs have increased for Early Care and Education services and now CDI/CDC operates 139 centers throughout the State of California, serving over 20,000 children, birth through twelve years of age. Our programs serve children and families who qualify for State subsidies through the California Department of Education, Early Education and Support Division, as well as private fee paying families during the school year and for Summer Camp. We partner with thirty-four school districts to provide before and after school academic and educational enrichment, transitional kindergarten and kindergarten readiness programs for children and families. Our centers are licensed by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, the agency charged with health and safety reviews of child care centers. Headquartered in San Jose, CA, CDI/CDC has regional offices in San Jose, Sacramento, Irvine and Oxnard, CA. In addition, Child Development Incorporated manages the Choices for Children division, (CFC), which includes the Resource and Referral Program providing family referrals in El Dorado and Alpine counties; and the Alternative Payment Programs for families in El Dorado, Alpine and Santa Clara Counties. CFC also operates the Child and Adult Care Food Program for Family Child Care Providers in seven counties. Regional offices are located in San Jose, Cameron Park, South Lake Tahoe and Markleeville. Our programs are individualized, unique and specific to the needs of our families and local communities. Our commitment to meeting individual community needs is of the highest importance and at the same time a large agency view affords us the stability, resources and scale needed to make great things happen.
