We moved to S. Florida specifically to send our daughter to American Heritage based on the material that said they were the #1 school in the nation. The section of American Heritage for children with Dyslexia is called "The Academy" and that is where our child would be placed. We took our daughter out of The Academy after two years, the end of 5th grade as we the school basically stopped teaching for almost 2 months while we fought with the head of school to build out a full-time online program. She started 6th grade elsewhere at a school that was supposedly not as highly regarded and she has still been behind other students the entire time. We just had her tested by a 3rd Party educational Testing center and we were told she is at a 5th grade level. You can imagine my frustration and disappointed after we paid over $35,000 per year for two years in a row and were told by American Heritage that she was an all "A" student, making the honor roll every semester. I have since learned that if you send your child to the Academy within American Heritage, you are buying your child good grades. I was even told by her teachers to leave her in the Academy through HS so that she will have a better chance of getting into a great college because the colleges won't know she was in the Academy, all they will see is great grades from American Heritage. I write this to caution anyone who is considering sending their child to American Heritage. It is a huge investment and you will not get a return on your investment.
