About the Provider
AMAC is pleased to announce the opening of our center-based Early Intervention Program (EIP), a public program funded by New York State and New York City for children 2 to 3 years of age diagnosed with PDD/Autistic-Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This family-focused EI program is based on the concept that early intervention with parental involvement can make a long-lasting impact on a child's later development that is not possible if services are delayed. The EI classroom will use the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodology, providing a behavior management structure that will implement intensive and immediate positive reinforcement systems throughout the child’s daily routine.
The classroom will include one teacher, two teaching assistants, and three related service therapists that will provide one-to-one sessions for OT, PT and Speech as mandated on the child’s IFSP. Two separate 2.5-hour sessions are available. Eligibility is determined by state-approved evaluators under contract with NYC. If a child is found eligible, services are identified in collaboration with the parent and must be authorized by the municipality. If you suspect your child or a child you know has delays please refer them to NYC Early Intervention by calling 311 or (800) 577-2229.
Parents are encouraged to take an active role in the program and to participate in partnership with the interventionist team to enhance their child's development. Support groups and family training are offered as part of AMAC’s services in the Early Intervention program.
