We are very pleased with the new ownership and management. The staff is very caring and loving towards my children. The food is healthy, the playground is huge and the classrooms are filled with fun things. Everything is clean and safe. They use all measures possible during COVID and our family has felt extremely safe and healthy throughout 2020.
Starting Point Children's Center is under new ownership and management- there have been huge improvements to the staff and facility. We are extremely pleased with everything!
Let me start by saying everything that glitters is not gold. Yes this is the most beautiful facility I have ever come across in terms of child care. Very clean and looks very inviting and appealing to children and adults alike. I love the layout and the big windows. They seem to keep updated toys and they seem to have a large collection of toys for the children. The staff seems nice (at first). I am always a very involved mother. I have children who's fathers are not in the picture so I try to stay on top of every detail because I know how boys can get without that male figure in the picture. I am also not a naive parent, I know who my children are and where they may struggle at times. I made the daycare teachers aware of how active my then youngest son could get. So of course I was not surprised when I picked up my children and asked how their day way (as I do every day) and they would tell me he had to sit in timeout because he was running in the class. Then after a while I got no report, I was always told that he had a good day. Their were a few incidences where him and his brother would bicker or fuss.
But then I was told out of the that I had a week to find another daycare and that my boys were being kicked out. That is right, no prior notice. How unprofessional. No business should be ran like this and definitely not a daycare. I asked the "Coordinator" why care was being terminated and she could give me no better answer than that my children where disrespectful. My main argument was that if that was true why wasn't I told. I mean I ask every day. She told me she was told by their teachers that they had told me. We called the school age teacher in for a brief meeting and teacher admitted that she had not told me about the disrespect but they insisted it was good enough grounds to terminate them from the program.
She had nerve to tell me my 3 year old daughter could stay and made the remark of "why couldn't you have 2 more of her". WTF does that even mean?
Again I asked for an description of how my children were being disrespectful because I want to correct the behavior so that I do not have the same issue at another daycare. I was finally told that one of my children rolled his eyes at her when she told him to get out of the hall. (Is that grounds for termination, I think not). And my younger son told me that the "Coordinator" had grabbed his arm and he jerked away from her. Again, not grounds for termination of care, or maybe I am crazy.
I asked to speak to the owner and after speaking to him I got even more suspicious as to why our care was actually terminated. He had no prior notice of this either. He told me he usually knows well in advance when there is a problem with or talk of ending care for any children. Why wasn't the same process followed this time? I guess we added too much color to the environment, that's the only thing I can come up with.
No real business geared toward CHILD CARE should be so intolerant. My children have since moved on to ABC Children's Academy and while it is not as aesthetically appealing there are doing wonderful and have made great friends. The teachers keep me well informed and praise them often about how helpful my children are.
No daycare should take parent involvement lightly and when a parent is reaching out they should not be shorted. This greatly effected my family and I wish I never took them to this glorified daycare. This is not how a daycare should be run EVER! They should take their titles of CHILD CARE PROVIDERS a lot more serious.
In closing: I asked the owner to allow me to review the video footage of the "Coordinator" grabbing my sons arm, I never heard back from him.
STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE REAL QUALITY CHILD CARE!
On July 9, 2015, shortly after noon, I was following behind two of your children's transport vans on Jones Rd. I watched and admired how careful both of those drivers were. They maintained perfect speed, kept plenty of room in between each van, came to slow perfect stops when crossing over Jones - just fantastic! A couple of months ago, I sadly observed a competitor's child care van going 47 in a 40, never coming to a complete stop at a turn on red, and worst of all - a little girl STANDING inside the van - not restrained or buckled up. Your drivers should be complimented.
