My kids have gone to Rainbow Connection for 5 years now. They love going there. The teachers are very good and helpful. The director is always out and about with the kids and very friendly to the parents. They have lots of fun activities for the kids.

Rainbow use to be a place I enjoyed for my kids to attend until recently.
Here are some of my personal reasons why:

1. Teachers have become less friendly, and act as if they have no time to make small chit-chat about my children and their day. However I will say this, I feel like it's not the teachers fault they do not talk, they are more so looking over their shoulders to make sure the new director isn't lurking around to avoid getting into trouble. I'm not saying I want to have a full blown conversation with them, but it would be nice to not just have a clip board passed my way with a "have a good day" and that be it.

2. It is hardly ever that I go into the daycare and am able to find the director. She seems to be gone more than actually being there. Then when I ask where she might be or when she might be back I can never get an answer. The only answer I receive is "I don't know".

3. There is an "assistant" there who seems to not be able to handle anything because she is in a classroom occupied with kids. Why have an assistant who can't be free while the director is constantly out when they have a job to do themselves?

4. The director is not a very friendly person to talk to, unless you know her personally I've come to observe. Be sure to not have any concerns or complaints with her due to the fact that instead of talking to you, she tends to scold people more so. It' seems to be just her way or the highway.

5. Kids are being moved up constantly without many of the parents approval.

6. My child had an appointment one morning, I called to let the director know, she then said it was fine to take my child up there when it was done. As I was walking in I had a teacher stop me and in a very rude manner tell me that I couldn't not bring my child in, it was after 10, which I was clearly aware of and had already made arrangements with the daycare. From my understanding this isn't that particulars teacher first time putting her nose in something that is NOT any of her business.

7. My child has come home multiple times informing me that they hardly had any lunch because their teachers took their plates and threw them in the trash when they weren't done eating. My child said their teacher told them they weren't being good. I've worked in daycare before and it is against minimum standards to use food, especially a main meal, as a form of punishment.

8. The director will lead you to believe one thing, yet her actions are completely different.

9. There are teachers there who should not be there because they clearly cannot handle the job.

10. I believe there is a time and place for everything. I have walked into the daycare 3 times and have seen a teacher being scolded not only in front of the children but also in front of parents and employees as well. If anyone one of higher power has a problem with another in the business world it should be handled professionally, and personally. Not made an public announcement for those all around to hear, that is very unprofessional, embarrassing for the employee, and childish for the director.

Overall, I myself have also become very dissatisfied with Rainbow Connection in Mt. Vernon, Texas. I feel as if this daycare has turned completely upside down in the last 6 months give or take. My main complaints are towards the director, and one or two teachers. I will say this despite the few issues I have there that they do have teachers despite the circumstances that are as good as gold and love each and everyone of the children from the bottom of their heart.
Here is what I think of the classrooms, and teachers:

Infant room: Great teachers
Toddler room: Great teachers
Ones room: This teacher is abosolutely great.
Two room: This room seems to have 3 teachers, 2 of them are great, the other one comes off as real fake. And will act as if you know nothing about parenting and is a know-it-all. My kids are not fond of her.
Three room: The main teacher is very unorganized, and has the classroom a chaotic mess with no control over the children. However, although young, the afternoon teacher is one whom has the heart of gold and someone my children love and talk about quite often. This teacher has great control, and a good structure for the children to follow to make things run rather smoothly.
Pre-K: Great teacher, whom my children adore.
Schoolers: Great teacher, and does a fabulous job with the children.

So many reason why not to use Rainbow Connection in Mt.Vernon, Texas….

1.       My daughter was allergic to milk and the teacher “accidentally” gave her milk on three separate occasions.

2.       The new director does not care about your concerns or complaints.

3.       The Teachers roll their eyes and are disrespectful to the parents.

4.       Rainbow Connection is one of the more expensive daycares in the area

5.       They changed their open hours to 6:45 and even then they do not always open on time!

6.       You have to pay even if they did not attend that day or if the daycare randomly chooses to shut down.

I am overall dissatisfied with their services!!
