Description: Established in 1971, the Child Development Center maintains its original vision: To provide young children a healthy, safe environment for learning with peers & adults. To encourage each child to grow and develop at his own pace and to feel good about himself as an individual and as a precious child of God. To offer children time to explore, time to ask questions, time to talk things out, time for fun, & time for rest. To present a professional staff who work together to establish positive, productive relationships with families & with each other. Preston Hollow United Methodist Church considers the CDC a mission to the community and supports that mission through facilities and gifts of time and prayer. Church members and representatives from the school’s Parent Association comprise the CDC School Board.

While at first it seems like a fairly good school, quickly one realizes that there are several issues. First, the older preschool children are frequently all put together in a very small classroom--one far too small to accommodate the 15 to 20 children in the room. Secondly, in one of the toddler class rooms they are putting together children in different developmental stages (1.5 years-old with 2 and 3 years-old). In one of the three year-old class rooms, there are a number of electrical outlet plugs missing, which is a serious safety hazard. Finally, their summer fun calendar, given out to the parents with what appears to be a number of different fun and interesting events and activities, has not been followed. The teachers have been keeping up with the weekly themes, and the splash day activities have occurred, but a number of the other activities have been either been ignored or changed last minute.
