The ELCP is founded on the premise that children progress through developmental stages at their own individual pace due to their unique personalities, interests, needs and learning styles. The ELCP endorses the Comprehensive Innovations Curriculum whose primary focus is six developmental tasks for Infants, Toddlers, and Preschoolers. These tasks are: Transitioning, Making Friends, Exploring Roles, Communicating, Problem Solving, and Expressing Feelings. The tasks are achieved through observations and assessments, child development, interactions, teaching, parent/family participation, environments and weekly/monthly interest units. The ELCP also follows the guidelines set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). These incorporate the required social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills in the following areas: Literature, Reading, Math, Fine Arts, Science, Social Studies, Large Motor Skills, Fine Motor Skills.
