Description: The Head Start program serves families and their children ages 3-5. The program has a very comprehensive curriculum, the DLM Express. The staff prepares children for Kindergarten, with a priority on Education, reading, phonemic awareness, numeracy awareness, language, literacy, and physical development.
Nutrition plays an important role in the classroom. Health screenings and health care, mental health and disabilities and social services, parent involvement and family engagement and finally, community involvement are also a vital role at the center. The Head Start program helps to get people out of the cycle of poverty and that includes energizing; and giving people the confidence that they can do things and that it’s one step at a time.
