We have a child with special needs and were told upon application and enrollment that he would be cared for and it would be no problem to accommodate him. The administrator was fully aware of the accommodations that he would need, even placed him in a lower level class due to his learning disability. She was fully aware at the time that we applied that he had special needs and we went over in detail every challenge she may possibly face. The first day I dropped him off at the center, I was called back within 15 minutes telling me I needed to pick him up. He wouldn't sit at the table, he wanted to sit on the carpet and play. He wouldn't let anyone touch him, he wouldn't follow directions. All of which was discussed before we even applied. They said he was violent and aggressive, two things that my child is definitely NOT. They did not even try to work with him. There was not one ounce of compassion or understanding that came from anyone there. Then, instead of calling me and setting up a time to discuss the situation, she leaves me a message saying not to bring him back, that it's not going to work. A message on my voice mail. Unprofessional, rude, cold and completely ridiculous. I'm so heartbroken for the experience for my child, and more so, for any other parent of a child with special needs that has ever had to go through this. All he needed was one person on his first day there to show him a little compassion and work with him. It breaks my heart truly that there are day care centers out there that have people that work there without an ounce of compassion, patience or understanding. I will definitely be telling everyone I know about this place, their administrators, and their lack of professionalism. Believe it.
I came in on a Wednesday to talk to the director about getting my daughter into the daycare, talked to the director about my daughters intellectual disability and the accomdations that need to happen. Brought a letter from the doctor she cant be unsupervised and the piece of paper that says what her disablities are. The following week started her on Monday then Tuesday rolled around. The daycare called then I called them back because I missed their call. The director told me why they called. Then the director made a comment how defiant my daughter was being then I told her that she has a disability and we already talked about this. I also told her that she was being disrespectful and she said she wasnt, I told her, her words were disrespectful how would she like for me to talk about her kids that way. I kept telling her that my daughter is mentally disabled and she has a low IQ. The director started to get hostile with me and telling me that i was arguing with her and i was not. Then the director told me she doesnt have to deal with this and told me to go find another daycare. I felt she was disregarding my daughter and her disability. No empathy, was unprofessional and no apology for the words she used and was aggressive.
