Walker Head Start

BI-CAP’s Early Head Start (EHS) program is an intensive, comprehensive, flexible program that is designed to reinforce and respond to the unique strengths and needs of each individual child (age 0-3) and his/her family. EHS programs promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the development of very young children, and promote healthy family functioning. Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through educational, health, nutritional, social and other services for enrolled children and families. Classroom teams focus on helping preschoolers develop the early reading and math skills and the social skills they need to be successful in school. Head Start has a long tradition of delivering comprehensive services designed to foster healthy development in the most vulnerable young children, including those with special needs.
