I gave this school only one star because in December of 2014 my son was not watched over in the morning and he went missing for 2 1/2 hours until someone realised he wasn't in the facility. He only just started there a week before this encidient happened. I dropped him off in the morning and there was only 4 kids including my kid and 2 teachers. I signed him and left him there thinking everything was going to be a normal day. The manager of the school called 2 1/2 hours later to check up on him. I was confused because I left him them in safe hands. Come to find out he opened the locked door and walked across Wintergardens Rd. and up by the gas station. A nice lady found him and the police had to take him to a safe place. Thank gosh he was ok. But then my husband talked to the owner of the preschool and asked for our money back plus the registration fee. She was at first good getting back to us in a timely manner and then it took us about 2 weeks to finally get the money back and it wasn't even the full amount that was agreed on. I'm very unhappy about this whole situation and the lack of urgency of the owner. I didn't want to drag this out but because of everything that has played out I'm a very unhappy parent. No parent should ever be worried about their child when they drop them off in a safe place that is licenced to watch children.
My daughter has been attending Genaveves Playhouse since they opened the first one in El cajon. We transferred to the Santee school when they opened it because we had another child and the Santee school takes infants. I read the above comment and I can say that in almost 3 years of attending the schools I have never been dissatisfied. We are 100% happy with the school and staff. I have volunteered on several occasions and have never seen a pillow in the infant nap room, but after reading the above comment I did speak with the Director who explained to me that there are no pillows allowed in any room with children under the age of 2. And when questioned about the bedding situation she told me that no child is ever allowed to sleep on another childs bedding. She said that the school provides bedding for children who have soiled theirs or whos parents forgot to bring them. I am guessing that this was the case in the above comment. I really really love this school and it makes me very sad to see such a great school full of loving teachers be mis spoken about.
Extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism displayed by owner and staff. My son was injured on his forst day and there was no incident report. I still don't know what happended to him. Our infant was also sleeping on other kid's bedding on more than one occasion. Infants also unsafely placed in tiny pack n play with large rolled pillows next to them. Very dangerous.
We also noticed different staff every week. I feel they need more consistency for these small children.
