Description: The purpose of our PRVO Policy Council is to serve as a link between public and private organizations, the grantee board of directors, the communities served, and the children enrolled in the planning and coordinating of the Head Start Program in Lamar, Marion, Pike, Stone and Walthall Counties in the State of Mississippi.
PRVO Policy Council is chosen from the Parent Committees (parents) and recommendations from major agencies of the communities and counties served for Community Representatives. PRVO Policy Council Committee is comprised of twenty (20) members with 51 percent of the membership being parents of children currently enrolled. These members represent each of our fourteen (14) Head Start Centers, one Liaison, one Early Head Start and five (5) Community Representatives. Our Policy Council consists of twenty-one (21) members with Jennifer Gayden as our Chairperson.
Regular meetings are held every third (3rd) Monday. In the event of a holiday on that Monday, the meeting is usually moved to Tuesday. Per Bylaws, there is no meeting in June, July or December. However, a “special call” meeting can be held in either of those months. A majority of the members of the Policy Council must be present to constitute a quorum for regular or special meetings to transact business.
