Tonight my child was dismissed from Aunt T’s Daycare and Preschool. I received a message from the owner stating she and her staff are unable to provide care to fit my child’s needs. My child has only been there a total of three days (non-consecutive). During our very short three days there, the staff has notified me of my child’s hyperactivity and how it is impacting their day negatively. As a NY state certified special education teacher, I was appalled by the feedback I was receiving and the staffs inability to provide solutions and/or interest in providing tier one behavior supports to ease my child’s first experience in a “school” setting. In addition, I also contacted my child’s pediatrician and “in house” social worker, who expressed similar concerns about this setting. Feel free to consider these components especially when sending your child for a first time experience. My child is heartbroken and can’t understand why he is not welcomed back.
