  • Job Description

    We are looking for experienced early childhood teachers who love to engage with children in a play-based environment and have fun while doing hands on activities.  Our children are active and eager to learn from an individual who can love and care for them while keeping their imagination and learning going throughout the day with fun activities.  Duties include but are not limited to supervising children ranging in age from 1-12 with and without special needs, assisting with fieldtrips, covering the classrooms for lunches, planning time, and when the regular staff members are off.  Substitute teachers work on an as needed basis, Monday-Friday between 6:30 am-5:30 pm and do not have a set schedule or guaranteed number of hours per week.

    Responsibilities:

    Note: Numbering does not indicate priorities; all responsibilities are of equal importance.

    Assist Lead Teachers with planning and/or implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum which provides for the children’s development of physical, cognitive, social/emotional, and language skills

    Assist Lead Teachers in establishing a warm, loving, safe, and secure classroom environment

    Provides for the health and safety of the client

    Interact with children in a positive manner

    Implement the Program’s discipline policy to provide guidance

    Promote family involvement

    Maintain professional standards

    Maintain records in an orderly manner

    Assist with program management as needed

    Comply with all Program policies and procedures

    Comply with all policies of regulatory agencies

    Other duties as assigned

  • Job Requirements

    Qualifications:

    Must be 18 years old or older 

    Must have a high school diploma or GED

    Must have or maintain enrollment in a CDA (Child Development Associate), Associate, Bachelors, or Masters in Early Childhood, Child Development, Early Childhood Special Education degree or closely related field.

    Must maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid  

    Must maintain current training in Universal Precautions

    Must pass a 5 phase drug screen

    Must pass a fingerprint background check through the FBI

    Must have a current TB test or chest x-ray with negative results

     

    Meet continuing education requirements set by state licensing, Paths to Quality, and NAEYC Accreditation

    Physical and Mental Demands:

     

    Ability to lift 60 pounds

    Ability to reach over head

    Ability to kneel at a child’s level

    Ability to sit on the floor and interact with children

    Finger dexterity

    Ability to communicate orally, visually, and in writing

    Ability to read all necessary documents

    Computer literacy

    Basic mathematical abilities

    Basic organizational abilities

    Ability to present a pleasing image of the organization through interaction with the public

    Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional standards

    Ability to cope with stress

    Demonstrate appropriate professional reaction to other’s behavior
