  • Job Description

    See to the care & safety of the children.

    Plan curriculum in detail.

    Follow policies and procedures in Employee Handbook/DSS & DHEC regulations

    Report to the director any special needs or problems of individual child or group of children

    Decorate the room with bulletin boards, pictures, children’s art work, and other wall hangings

    Classroom cleanup - sweeping, cleaning tables, emptying/ cleaning trash can, picking up in the bathroom, etc.

    Supervise snack & lunch and see to the needs of the children

    Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with the stated policy on discipline

    Participate in activities with the children when they are singing, reading, arts & crafts

    Monitor children when they are playing in centers

    Supervise daily outdoor or gym playtime - zone around the area

    Communicate with the parents - greet children & parents at arrival and pickup

    Monitor signing out in the roll book

    Earn 15 DSS training hours for each calendar year

    Keep classroom, storage areas, and bathroom clean, neat, and orderly on a daily basis

    Attend regular staff meetings

    Attend mandatory school functions

    During the children’s rest time, assist with cleaning the room, closets, wall hanging, etc. 

  • Job Requirements

    Genuine love of children

    2-3 years of preschool teaching experience.

    Active member of a local church

    Acorns to Oaks Child Development Center is a non-profit, Christian child care center that provides full-time daycare services to families in Summerville, South Carolina, and the surrounding areas. The child care center is sponsored by The Fellowship of Oakbrook. 

    Acorns to Oaks provides safe and nurturing care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old.
    We are open from 6:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.

    The children receive instruction during the day using the Weekday Early Education (WEE) Learn Curriculum and Handwriting without Tears. They engage in age-appropriate activities that help them develop mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
