Description: The Head Start Program of Audubon Area Community Services will continue to operate in sixteen Western Kentucky counties at 59 sites. These sites are located in the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Daviess,
Hancock,Henderson, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, McLean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Todd, Trigg, Union, and Webster. Our current grantee funded enrollment is 1702 Head Start (including 41 Head Start enrollments through delegate agreement with Western Kentucky University Child Care Consortium); 156 Early Head Start; and 40 Migrant Head Start (in partnership with Community Action Council for Lexington Fayette).
Audubon is blended with the state preschool program, known as KERA preschool because it was established under the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) in 1990. Audubon operates collaborative blended Head Start/Preschool classrooms in all counties except Henderson and Todd. The current KERA preschool enrollment is 1,297 children.
