We have set procedures for the pick-up of children; these will be discussed and documented by the Center Director at enrollment. Tours may be arranged with the Center Director or Assistant Director. In 1971 the Parish decided to establish a new ministry that would aid working parents and children, Kindergarten and a Day Care Center. The first director of the Day Care Center was Sr. Mary Mercy an Ursuline Sister. The Day Care was located in the west wing of the school building. In 1989, the Kindergarten Program was taken over by the Owensboro Catholic Consolidated School System. When Sr. Mary Mercy retired in 1978, Ms. Juanita Fogle became Director and served in that capacity until June, 2003. Micki Brantley Howard is the current director of the day care center. The Day Care Center has recently expanded its services to include infants and toddlers. The Day Care Center has an outstanding reputation as a Christian based, quality child care center that strives to meet the needs of parents and children. Referrals for Day Care Services can be made by contacting the Day Care at 684-7456. Days and hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 6:30 A.M. - 5:30 P.M. Day Care Advisory Council: The Day Care Advisory Council was formed in 2003. Additional volunteers with an interest in this ministry are needed. Nine individuals will serve as the Advisory Council with each serving a three year term. Advisory Council members are appointed by the Pastor.

Sorgho Elementary School provides students a large gym, nice cafeteria and courtyard, science lab, art room, stationary computer lab, wireless computer lab, outdoor classroom and many other facilities which enhance education. Enrollment has increased the past few years, with a current enrollment of 585 students and over 75 faculty and staff. Enrollment includes students Kindergarten through Fifth grade plus students in three district wide units for emotional behavioral disability and preschool students. Sorgho also has three preschool units of 3 and 4 year olds which includes special needs preschool students from other schools in the district. Sorgho Elementary is a school-wide Title I school. We participate in many community-based programs such as Reading Mentorship and Theater Workshop of Owensboro and Arts in the AM. Throughout the year parents are involved in the school through various activities, some of these include Volunteer Workshops, Family Reading Nights, PTO, and Family Resource Parent/Child Involvement Nights.

The Head Start Program of Audubon Area Community Services will continue to operate in sixteen Western Kentucky counties at 59 sites. These sites are located in the following counties: Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Daviess, Hancock,Henderson, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, McLean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Todd, Trigg, Union, and Webster. Our current grantee funded enrollment is 1702 Head Start (including 41 Head Start enrollments through delegate agreement with Western Kentucky University Child Care Consortium); 156 Early Head Start; and 40 Migrant Head Start (in partnership with Community Action Council for Lexington Fayette). Audubon is blended with the state preschool program, known as KERA preschool because it was established under the Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA) in 1990. Audubon operates collaborative blended Head Start/Preschool classrooms in all counties except Henderson and Todd. The current KERA preschool enrollment is 1,297 children.
