About the Provider

Description: TigerSide Intergenerational Preschool (IGP) first opened on September 1st, 2011. TIgerSide was founded by the owners, Amy and Rick Messner, and the current director, Stephanie Ross. TigerSide is affiliated with The Neighborhoods by TigerPlace.

TigerSide IGP is a state licensed preschool with a capacity of 24 children, ages 2-12 years. We are open from 6:40 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

TigerSide IGP participates in the W.I.S.E. program in conjunction with Columbia Public Schools, where high schoolers from Battle and Rock Bridge gain on the job work experience to help prepare them for life after graduation.

TigerSide preschoolers have access to the onsite indoor heated pool and movie theater at The Neighborhoods by TigerPlace.

TigerSide IGP is a desirable choice for your family because of the small class sizes (1 to 8 teacher / student ratio), exceptional facilities (less than 4 years old), and our unique community approach to learning.

I currently have one child in this daycare and we absolutely love it! My son is talking up a storm now. He is learning so much from his teacher. I appreciate the small size and price. The relationships that my son and I have with the teachers are ones that I can never replace. He has a favorite resident that lives upstairs and he is always drawing pictures for her door. I met her, and am thankful for TigerSide and the opportunity to introduce my son to someone who otherwise wouldn't have met. She loves seeing him when they do room visits. Thank you, TigerSide IGP!

I have a very mixed experience as related to this child care facility. I have had 3 children attend this center within the last 2 or so years. My older son attended this school before he went off to KG and I had no problems with the child care provided,I felt the academics where acceptable for getting a PreK child ready for KG. Sadly, when I had my second set of children there (3 year old twins). I got the feeling that the atmosphere was different. There were a lot of play based activites, but I cant really speak on how that translated to academics, because my twins were 2 months shy of 4 when they were asked to leave, and did not correctly recall colors, or numers or ABC's, etc. I feel the staff curently on site were good people, but maybe overworked, or over stressed possilbly.

They in general lacks the capability of running the business aspect of things, while maintaining an appropriate level of care for the children. The owner/ director (who lives in CA) asked my children to leave (unenroll from the center) with basically 3 days notice. The communcation leaves a lot to be desired. There are no daily sheets, rather everything is done via text messages. They don't provide incident reports (only text messages) and negative behaviors from my kids where not reported to me until a substantial amount of time had past (almost 3 months).

With that said it is in a convient location, hours are comparable to centers in the area, and most of the teachers are degree seeking, if not already degreed. The children are able to form realtionships with older populations as well as interact in a variety of activites with geriatrics.

This review is in response to "Lindsay's" one star rating. "Lindsay" is actually a woman named Mary and Mary became unhappy with our services after she was asked to pay an 6 week outstanding balance or lose her preschool spot. She immediately went on a smear campaign, reporting us to licensing for apparently abusing her son (which licensing found to be unsubstantiated) and posting negative reviews about our center on the internet. I am the owner and was her child's teacher at the time. She did request that I offer her more feedback, which I did in the form of emails and phone calls. Her child only came to the center once a week and I was attending college courses in the evening, which was why I left early on the one day a week she brought her son. My staff is well-trained, hard working, and our program is something of which I am extremely proud. Anyone who is interested in finding out what kind program we have can call the center and schedule a visit or just drop by in the morning to observe my teachers at work. We can also provide dozens of references from families who had a great experience. It is unfortunate that the only review we have here is one posted out of spite.

My first reaction to this daycare center was that it appeared different then other daycare centers. I got the impression that the teacher was passionate about what she was doing and cared for the children. Well, as much as she boasted about her daycare it wasn't what it appeared to be. I never ever got feedback about my son's care, events through the day, etc. In fact the person that claimed to be working with my son was always leaving early, how early? I dont know.. I would arrive to pick up my son and I asked about his day and got very little feedback and most of the time the only person that was there couldn't tell me about anything he had done that day because they weren't around him. I was made to feel bad because I requested more information about my sons day when I wasn't around. So, I stopped asking and inside I was very upset all of the time when my son was there. They are lacking staff and the director who claims to work with the two year old class is way to involved in her own life to the point where it makes me feel like she doesn't even care about the children shes supposed to be taking care of. My hope for this place is that the director will hire more experienced staff and will work harder to work with the children and not just boast about the facility. I had a very negative experience.
