Description: Primm is a fully licensed child care center with the City of Seattle and the State of Washington with a curriculum based on real life events as a foundation for learning for ages 1 to 12.
In 1970, Primm Day Care Center was established by Rev. and Mrs. Edward N. Smith Jr. and the members of Primm Tabernacle AME Church. Friends of Primm at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Mercer Island also assisted. Until 1975, the center was licensed for 21 children from ages 21/2 to 12 years when a second site was purchased on Rainier Avenue South. This expanded our services to care for 28 additional children.
In 1977, the center relocated to its present location and is now licensed for 45 children, from toddlers to pre-adolescent age. Donations of services and equipment have come from many sources: the City's Department of Human Resources, the Boeing Employees Good Neighbore Fund, board members and many friends. They have provided us the opportunity to serve many families through the years.
The program is child-centered and offers a variety of challenging activities and materials to enable each child to create and to discover the joys learning has to offer.
In the past, we have been able to offer before and after school enrichment programs for schoolagers at the original MLK school and Dearborn Park elementary schools.
We offer a free full-day preschool for children who are 4 years old by August 31st under the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) on Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Click here for a flyer with additional information and the current income guidelines for the program.
Our center hours are 7:00 am to 6:00 pm during the year. Childcare is available for full or part-time care and before and after school. We accept childcare subsidies.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.
