Description: Pinnacle Elementary is a School-Wide Title I school. Our student population consists of PreK-5. We are located in Pinnacle, North Carolina. Our mascot is the Panther and our school colors are blue and white. At Pinnacle Elementary we strive to put children first.
We have been recognized by the state of NC as a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (P.B.I.S.) school at the Exemplar Level. The major components are 1. Identify the expected behaviors.
2. Teach model and practice what those behaviors look, sound, and feel like.
3. Specifically praise appropriate behavior with private or public acknowledgement.
Our instructional emphasis is child-centered. Children learn through life applicable experiences using a balanced literacy curriculum, math manipulatives, hands-on science, and other activities which involve active learning.
In order to meet children’s individual needs, we have teachers specializing in speech, academically gifted, and learning disabilities. All students attend guidance, music, physical education, media, and computer classes once per week instructed by teachers certified in these areas. We also have a computer lab available for students’ use and at least two computers in each classroom. The computers operate on a school-wide network which provides numerous technological opportunities, including wireless Internet.
In addition to classroom academics, some of the opportunities available to students are Student Council, Math Stars, Junior Battle of the Books, Reading Counts, Jr. Blast, and quarterly award ceremonies in which students are recognized for academic and behavioral success. Students are rewarded monthly for meeting homework and behavior goals.
Our Parent Teacher Organization is an integral part of our total school program. Each year the P.T.O. sponsors many fun-filled events for our students and the community. Proceeds from these activities in the past have been used to purchase computers, playground equipment, and numerous instructional supplies. In addition, the P.T.O. provides volunteers for classroom activities, tutoring, and many other services. We believe educating children is a joint effort between home and school. We highly value and encourage parental involvement.
The faculty and staff at Pinnacle Elementary School strive to provide a quality education for students. We are committed to making our school an exemplary school in every aspect.
