Description: Our goal is to provide a safe and happy place for children. Communication between parent and provider is very important. The development of a strong self-esteem is also a major goal. Children will be taught to respect themselves and each other.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

Write a review about Olive Child Care. Let other families know what’s great, or what could be improved. Please read our brief review guidelines to make your review as helpful as possible.
My children no longer go to Olive child care center. It was ok in the beginning as it was all I could afford. They have great prices, but now I know why. Within the few months my children went to Olive, I witnessed a child drug across the playground by his forearm because "he was playing in mulch", bruises on my youngest child's arms multiple times and I walked in on my three year old strapped in a high chair, facing the corner of the wall because he was "in time out". The teacher approached me and told me my child did not want to stay in the class and always was running out to try and go to his siblings class.
I also noticed how the student to teacher ratios were always never correct. The director was hardly ever there and when she was she did not care about anything. None of the teachers were suspended, the high chair remained in the room, there was nothing done about my concerns.
Since Olive, My children now attend a pre-school with an after care program and they absolutely love it. My youngest is no longer scared to go to school and doesn't cry anymore when its time for mommy to go to wok. They come home happy with SO many art projects. They are so talkative and excited to tell me about their day. I cannot believe i even put up with olive child care for so long.
Our son attended Olive before Kindergarten and flourished here. His teacher was so incredibly kind, caring, and loving. He was excited to go each day and was given such love from the staff.
My only concern was that there weren't enough kids his age to split away from some of the younger ages (2-3 year olds were grouped with 4-5 year olds), but staff provided him with curriculum while younger kids slept.
Our youngest child is enrolled here and we love this daycare. Our son is happy to go there in the morning and is always smiling when we pick him up. The facility is very clean and the director/owner is always there and really cares about the children. The facility has a large outdoor fenced in playground and the front door is secured by a coded lock so I am not sure what the other poster was talking about regarding a lack of security. We love Olive and would recommend it to others.
This center is out of child/caregiver ratio compliance during the midday when parents are not usually dropping off/picking up. The toddler room (ages 1-2) has one teacher assigned to 6 children. They then float another random staff member in if one is available. Children were left sitting in dirty diapers with runny noses while caregivers were on cell phones. We removed our child from this center. Please, if you are considering this daycare, know that the activities are limited. Morning snack is often goldfish, and a few times was a cupcake. We learned the hard way that you get what you pay for. The tuition is reasonable for a reason. Do yourself a favor and make multiple surprise visits (at different times of the day) before you even consider enrolling.
I was looking for childcare in Olney and could not even get waitlisted at Kindercare -- thank God!
I found Olive. The people are wonderful and the prices are very affordable. I put my infant in there and he is so happy. It is such a great atmosphere for him and I love how family-oriented they are there.
I don't know what the other poster is talking about. The security there is great -- only family and such have access, but I have only been going there since November.
Impressions of visit: the facility was adequate but could use more carpeted areas for the infants and toddlers. The infant room was upstairs and seemed welcoming and the caretaker I met was lovely.
Security could be more of a priority. We walked right in despite a security lock that was not being used for it's intended purpose.
The two and up kids were all together downstairs. There were not enough children to split them into age appropriate groups which seemed to be working but with a few more children may become an issue.
I went in early fall and I felt that one of the caregivers downstairs was inappropriately dressed however the children seemed receptive to their routine.
The prices are very reasonable and the owner seems involved with all the children.
I would have considered enrolling an infant if they remedied the security lock issue and invested in more carpeted areas but decided not to enroll my 3 year old son. I just felt as if they needed a more separate program for the age groups.
The reason I gave them three stars is because I didn't actually enroll my child in the center and I only visited once. These were only my visiting impressions, if you are interested in the center I would encourage you to visit. It may have changed since september 2010.
