In space #3, the teacher assigned to the group of children made the following statements to a 2-year-old child “Sit at the table and put your head down and I don’t want to hear you crying”, “As long as you are crying you won’t get up” and “If you hit another child, you will sit there the whole time until we eat”. When asked how long she waits for the child to stop crying, the teacher said about five minutes. Other statements made by the lead teacher and teacher included “don’t do that” “you don’t have to scream” talking to a 2-year-old who was non-verbal. Also, the lead teacher, while changing a diaper, raised her voice at a child asking, “who threw that?” referring to a book and asked, “why’d you throw that book?” The lead teacher said “stop, you’re too loud to the non-verbal 2-year-old child saying “I don’t want to see that.
