Description: Serving over forty children from age 1 through grade school in beautiful facilities with top quality staff and programming, Hominy Child Care was adopted on June 5, 1985 from Buncombe County Childcare Services to become a ministry of the church to the community. Our child care program provides a loving atmosphere in which the spiritual, social, cognitive, physical and emotional development of children ages 1 through 5 years can be nurtured. through individual and group activities our program provides each child with the opportunity to develop a positive self image and self-help skills.
The After School Program is provided for elementary school children who are walked over from Candler Elementary. Hominy Child Care is a licensed 4 star center. Staff are trained annually in early childhood education topics, infant/child CPR and First Aid. The center is open year round, full-time, Monday- Friday 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. except for major holidays. Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are served. Cots and sheets are provided for rest time.

Each child was not attended to in a nurturing and appropriate manner, or in keeping with the child's developmental needs. A staff member yelled in the face of a child, spoke to children in a harsh tone of voice, aggressively placed children into a chair and then shoved the chair into the classroom table causing the chair to hit the table, grabbed a child who was underneath a slide on the playground outside by the arm and quickly moved the child to another area, and picked children up by one arm when they were refusing to participate in an activity. | |||
