At first glance Celebree Severna Park appears to be the epitome of the ideal daycare center. The center is clean and bright with cute children's music playing in the background and the staff appear warm and enthusiastic. The management, however, do not appear to understand the meaning of "child care". They placed my just-turned-three year old in a classroom of older threes and young 4 year olds and then appear shocked he needed more guidance than the older children. He had several meltdowns when he missed his nap and is still in the process of potty-training and a few parents complained he was getting too much attention, so the management decided to disenroll him much to the surprise of his teachers. One of the managers said "there's nothing wrong with him, but we can't risk losing 5 parents for the needs of 1 child who may need more individualized attention, and we can't do that here". So, it appears my young three year old really should have been with the older 2 year olds/young 3 year olds that are soon to move up to the 3-4 year old classsroom. However, instead of doing the right thing and placing him in a more appropriate peer group they chose to take the easy path and just disenroll him. They obviously do not have any real concern for nurturing children at this center and are more interested in numbers. Please take the management philosophy under consideration if you are thinking of enrolling your child here.
