I’ve had my children at ACC since autumn of 2009.

I was devastated to read some of these reviews! In no way is Shannon “in it only for the money”. Every parent that signs up at ACC signs the same agreements as I did. We are ALL made aware that late pick ups involve a fee & that late payments incur a late charge. Is this any different than any other bill you have? If I don’t pay my electric on time, there’s a late fee. The person investing enormous amounts of time with my child is allowed to assess a late fee, as outlined in a parent’s SIGNED financial paperwork, when appropriate–to compensate the staff for staying late with your child. At least 3 times a year, I run late. I call the center to advise them & present a check for the $2/minute/per child fee. I don’t tell them “it’s not fair”, because I know it wasn’t fair of ME to arrive late when they anticipate going home at 6pm.

As a parent on Title XX, for childcare help, I am fully aware that ACC receives severely reduced hourly rates in compensation for my children’s care. ACC does not ask a Title XX parent to pay extra & they don’t ask “us” for anything, other than to follow the rules that ALL parents have to: notifying them of absences, notifying them for attendance during school closures, payment of late fees for co-pays/late pick ups. Shannon helped me through a rough patch & allowed me to work out a payment system where I paid my current amount due with a portion of my past due balance. This is not a “Crabby Blabby”–this is a person who cares about the parents enrolled at her center & wants things to work out for both the parents & the children.

One of the most amazing things about ACC is their school day structure. We had a child care center that focused on “free-play” & only set times for breakfast, lunch & naps. Coming to ACC, my kindergartener had set times to do his homework afterschool, & my toddler had a structured environment to learn in. As the youngest went through preschool, he became prepared for the school environment. I truly believe my youngest was better prepared for Kindergarten because of ACC (versus my older son’s experience with “free play”). I don’t believe that the center is run too harshly. The teachers rely on children following the rules to help maintain order & the children know that if they break the rules, they will be sent to the office. Is this any different than they should expect? This is just another preparation for attending elementary school!

Oh and they have 3 separate playgrounds! The older children have a play area that’s covered with shredded tire to protect them from the bumps & scrapes of everyday play. The baby/toddler rooms have a little play area separated from the others to ensure their safety-all of this is fenced in & child proofed. They have a splash pad area, just recently replacing their n ground pool. The splash pad is a summertime favorite of both my boys! My only complaint is that now I’ll have to teach my youngest to swim!

ACC is one of the best environments for any child. The teachers are kind & engaging. The owners & office staff are fair, upfront & honest. Notices are posted so you don’t miss payment dates. Everyone is aware of late fee policies. All parents are aware of deadlines for additional days needed. I feel that a lot of these bad reviews were designed as personal attacks toward ACC & staff because a parent felt they were being targeted.

Well, I’m here to tell you, you are not targeted. If it’s you or me, we are all following the same rules, payment schedules and late fee charges. We all have the same deadlines and responsibilities. ACC management/staff aren’t mean, they’re doing their job

They are running a business that cares for your child or mine for more hours than you, or I, will see on a given day. & they do a fantastic job of helping me raise my sons.
