Houston Mom Oct 23, 2012

I will start this off by saying my daughter attended Sonlight for 9 months. We noticed that on days the daycare fed the children hot dogs, she would be up all night vomiting! I then told her teacher that she was not able or allowed to eat hot dogs from there and that they needed to feed her something different because they are obviously not cooking them properly. In July, 2012, when I went to pick up my daughter, she was holding her left arm and saying "Ouch Mommy, ouch" as well as crying. I had asked them after her last injury (another kid shut my daughter's finger in the door...) to call me regardless of how small the accident was. I had not received a call at work and at that point, I asked her teacher if anything had happened because she was complaining of pain and she said "not that I saw." So I left the daycare with my daughter and her father and I took her to the ER because she kept complaining of pain. They further diagnosed her with a dislocated elbow. The next morning I took in all of her hospital paperwork for them to make a note for her file and the front office manager asked me if I would like for her to check with my daughter's teacher to see if something happened. It turns out my daughter had another accident that day where she tripped, but this was not enough to cause a dislocated elbow! She created an accident report for me and I signed it. Well, a few weeks after the incident my insurance company asked for me to get the daycare's insurance information because they felt the daycare was liable for the medical expenses due to the fact that it happened on their property. I dropped off the letter from my insurance company to the office manager and received a call the next day from the owner, Jan Haydel, asking me to return her call. I called the owner back only to have her asking me rude questions such as that she didn't understand why I was asking for their information because the incident didn't happen there. She even accused me of trying to "get money" from them and that she was going to turn me and my daughter's father over to CPS because "We were obviously negligent" with our daughter. She straight up accused me of CHILD ABUSE! It was crazy! I then filed a case with the state of Texas so there would be an investigation. Meanwhile, I had to remove my daughter from their care and they were withholding their insurance information from us, which is illegal. Any parent has the right to get insurance information from their daycare at ANY time, they must furnish it upon request due to Texas law. We found my daughter a new daycare after the director leaving me a voicemail saying they did not actually interview all of the teachers, but it looks like the last teacher of the day said something could have possibly happened. The director is as two-faced as anyone can be. Finally, a month later, the investigator let me know that he found in our favor, that the incident did IN FACT happen AT THE DAYCARE. They finally gave us their insurance information after her father and I provided them with proof that they HAD to give it to us by law. I finally got in touch with thier insurance claims representative to get the paperwork only to have Sonlight STILL NOT be willing to fill out their part of the claim form. This has gone BEYOND ridiculous. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE. I know another parent who has also removed her daughter from this daycare due to their unorganization. The owner is senile and has how idea how to run a business. I really believe she is crazy and with how she talks to me as well as the other reviews I have found, I am not the only one to have dealt with this woman. Do not even fall subject to this daycare they only care about money and the owner does not care about your children. The teachers my daughter had were GREAT, but as far as the administration of this daycare (with exception of the office manager), they have no compassion for doing what is right. Christian daycare? RIGHT!!!!!!!
