About the Provider

Description:

We believe that the early childhood experience lays the foundation for all future growth and development. High quality programming for young children enhances development and lays the groundwork for happy, healthy and productive futures. We believe that all children have limitless potential. Good teachers look at each individual child in a holistic way, repecting and nurturing each child's potential for physical, emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and spiritual growth. We believe that parents are a child's primary teachers. Parents are essential to a child's early learning and teachers in high quality programs work with parents as partners to provide the highest quality early childhood experiences for each child. We believe that the learning process is dynamic, involving the teachers, parents, and the children. The most effective teachers provide authentic experiences which are relevant to children's daily lives and give meaning to each child's learning. Good teachers provide children with emotional security, opportunities to explore, take risks, succeed, fail and persevere.

I have used this provider for less than 6 months

TerraNichol Academy is a unique Reggio Emilia program and all three of my children have attended this program since 2006. The teaching team and administration are knowledgeable and educated in the Early Childhood field and have over 25 years of experience in the field. The teaching team provides daily, weekly, and monthly communication through weekly blogs, which include pictures of you child, Parent Portal, and daily messages. Founder and Educational program director both teach in the learning labs and parents have daily personal interaction with them on a daily basis. The staff is kind, mindful, compassionate and thrives through the student's progress in learning. The school has a wonderful extremely large natural eco friendly outdoor playscape learning environment for exploring math, science, water exploratory, gardening, gross and fine motor as well as outdoor art studio and yoga sanctuary with little people hammocks. Students spend a nice balance amount of time outside. One of the reason I love and adore this school. My children love yoga workshop and would come home demonstrating the yoga poses, meditation techniques and mindfulness quotes with me. So adorable! The also have a strong enrichment program such as music appreciation, art appreciation, Zumba, creative dance, second languages, poetry and story journey. They also have a waste free lunch program and teach children the importance of living an eco friendly lifestyle and involve children in education for sustainability. We were so lucky to live in a community with this wonderful innovative Reggio Emilia preschool that provides a wonderful program for students. At the end of the year you receive a portfolio with a collection of your child's art, writing, and work samples with pictures and quotes of your child. It is wonderful to see their journey at the beginning of the year and their progress at the end of the year. Plus a nice memory book for when they are older. If you are looking for a daycare type of environment or ditto worksheets and less time outside this is not the school for your family. This school is based on early childhood development, research, child's interest, play based curriculum standards set forth by the Department of Education. We loved this school and highly recommend the school to many parents in our community who are like minded. You can’t not always please every family or parent. TerraNichol Academy teaching team and administration staff give it their all 150% each and everyday to the students and parents.

Disappointed Sep 18, 2012

This is a Learn to Play school!  If you want your child to spend all day outdoors playing in the Florida heat, then this school is for you.  They require an extensive list of supplies which you must provide in addition to the substantial application fees.  If your child is disciplined and self motivated then they will excell. But it is NOT a good program for most four year olds.  The staff and owner are are unwilling to listen to any concerns that you may have.

not happy May 29, 2012

They are better salesman than actual loving caretakers.  Their program sounds so great but never really seen any work sent home and when you try to communicate on what went on that day with your child (they actually not real forth coming like pulling teeth). Just want to able to communicate openly abput daily events - potty - what was eaten - what kind of play was done?  I would not recommend this school.
