Description: St Joseph's Day Care Center advocates the role of play in a child's development. Children learn best by doing, and what they do best is play. We learn through play because it teaches children the joy of learning. We see play as the window that opens a child's mind, introducing them to the magic of speech, the wonder of imagination and the excitement of exploration. We use play to challenge a child's intellect, exercise their memory and practice their social skills. What they learn here in play are lessons they carry with them for a lifetime. Look no further than the smiles on their faces to see how well play works.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.

I enrolled my 4 year old in the pre-K program a little too late and this school was one of the ones that was left unpicked by other parents and wasn’t full at the time (but it was convenient to me) and now I understand why it wasn’t full like the others. My son was so excited to start school, to go shopping for school supplies and make friends but after his second day he was hesitant to go back and on the third day he was straight out screaming because he didn’t want to stay (I noticed the behavior in other kids too) and I can’t say I blame them, the teacher Ms. Stacy (the one with a fake smile we call her because it was painfully noticeable she wasn’t being real) would pull me aside every single day at pick up time to tell me something that my son had done wrong or to go into detail of how bad he was that day, she slowly started taking away things from him like at nap time he wasn’t allowed a blanket or a pillow like the other kids and so on until one day she said i had to pick him up 2.5hrs earlier than dismissal every day because he wasn’t “coping” and they had too many kids to be focusing on him. One time we went to pick him up early and the whole classroom smelled like feces, come to find out it was my son that had an accident and was left like that for God knows how long even though he had a full change of clothes available in his cubby, but my question is why would a fully potty trained 4yr old who had never had an accident since he was fully trained at 3yrs old feel the need to go on himself? And why did nobody notice it until we came in??? How is that even possible when the smell was unbearable? One time I can tell I came to pick him up earlier than usual and the door to the room was closed so I opened it quietly because i wanted to see what they were doing and witnessed the teacher aid “man handling” a child from the play area to the main classroom. I really don’t understand how this place is still in business. We called the school department and they pretended like they cared and said they were gonna talk to the teacher and find my kid a new School but that never happened. We moved and he is now 5 years old and he’s supposed to start kindergarten but he’s terrified of school and doesn’t want to go and I don’t feel very confident myself after this last experience thanks to them.
I moved to Martinsburg with a job transfer. I was desperate in finding child care for my two sons. I called several day care centers for help and received very little information. I called St. Joseph's day care and was put through to the director immediately. I explained my problem that I had not moved into my home, but living out of a motel and wanted to find an adequate child care center that would be more than just a inistitution for my boys. The director offered to have me and my sons visit the facility . It was the best move I ever made, not only did I enroll my boys in this center, the director gave me information on the schools in the area, local dr's and places of interest. I feel she went above and beyond her duty. My children remained at St. Joseph's until they entered [public school. I would highly reccomend this center , not only was it affordable, but my boys were very happy there. Thank you St. Joseph's. Mike P
