I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Laurel Early Education Center has been a rock for our family over the last four years. Both of my boys attended this pre-school, and I cannot say enough about how grateful we are for the skills our oldest son gained which is serving him well in Elementary School. This place is structured, nurturing, and safe. Mrs. Michele Dean, in particular, was instrumental in teaching our oldest child discipline, structure, conflict resolution, and responsibility. I am excited to see how our second son will thrive under her direction. Ms. Corbin is also fabulous. She provided a nurturing environment and is particularly sensitive to the emotional wellbeing of her students. There are many personalities among teachers and children alike (I teach personality science) and all are crucial for the well-rounded education our children receive at this institution. As for nap time - that is an LAUSD requirement. I wasn't too thrilled about it myself, but you cannot have 99% of the children participating and 1 % interrupting everyone else. Children need to understand how to get in line and follow the herd sometimes - and teachers deserve a break!

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

They have good teachers and excellent playground.
But the administrate officer is so rude and acting like boss. If she is tired, just go home and rest. She is there to help parents, kids and other worker not to order something. I never saw her smile.

My son attended Laurel EEC because it was near my work place and I figured in a nice neighborhood it would probably be a better school. Wrong. When My son was 3 years old another parent reported witnessing a teachers aide abusing and slapping my son in his face as he screamed and cried. The witness said it practically brought her to tears. I was not told of this incident until 5 days after it occurred and only then was i notified that my sons incident was under ivestigations.Child Services(Wrong dept as i was told by the police) were called instead of the police. The police told me LAUSD has a tendency to knowingly call the wrong department in order to delay investigations. By the time police came they could not press charges due to my son not being verbal enough to explain what happened at 3 years old and not having physical evidence. Apparently the witness was not enough. After this incident my child had many issues at laurel and the school framed my son to be this evil problem child and even called the police on my THREE YEAR OLD in order to make their staff look better and my son look like a bad seed. 3 years later I am still dealing with the problems due to his trauma. It scares me to think what else had gone on because the principal didn't seem to care. After many meetings she had the audacity to tell me that my son deserved to be hit. I had to demand meetings with the actual school district which really were only met to appease me, no real punishment was done to the abuser besides moving schools. People who cannot handle children should not be in this line of work if they cannot handle young children. The office manager was always great and the special ed teacher was the only one who seemed to truly care about the students. Do not take your child to this daycare, as you can see on this front page they have reported incidents, my son's incident was in 2012.It was only reported because of the outrage i caused and the constant work it took for me to get meetings with the district because dealing with the belligerent principal was bound to end with me in my own legal trouble. Beware of this incompetent principal and abusive staff.
