I sent my child for almost 3 years. True is the saying that day cares are actually "daycare less". There is lack of basic love and affection which child needs the most at growing age. There was no good feedback mechanism. Although some teachers were fine but overall I regret my child going there.
We were one of the "first families" back in 1986. Our son, Brian, was born w/Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and our regular sitter (for Adam) was fearful of caring for Brian. Can't remember how I discovered Handicare...but it was a godsend. Brian had gross motor skill problems along with everything else, but the staff at Handicare directed us to the proper state agencies and Brian was able to get the needed help there at "the 'Care". It was wonderful, too, that "big brother" Adam was able to attend. The staff was loving, caring, knowledgeable...everything and more than we could have hoped for. And here I am...Brian will be 27 this year...and I often think of Handicare and how grateful I am they were there when we needed them.
