About the Provider

Description: First Roots Underhill is a 5 STAR and Eco-Healthy Certified nature-based center. We implement an emergent curriculum that is play-based. "hands on," and developmentally appropriate. Curriulum includes, but is not limited to, sensory experiences, reading, loose part materials, music, arts, and encourages fostering relationships with the natural world and each other. We encourage risky play to support confidence, decision making, and competence in young children. Children spend the majority of their day outdoors in our natural playscapes, including our playground, woods playground, Mills Riverside Park, and school gardens. We value building community, such as visiting with the local middle school classes, library, market, first responders. We invite families to join us the last Friday of every month for "Family Friday," hold seasonal family gatherings, and invite families to visit classrooms.
