Description: Our class works within the content areas of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies throughout the school day. Learning within both academic and functional settings, such as community-based instruction, helps the students generalize skills to real life activities. Learners attend some classes with their general ed. peers, acquiring important work, language, and social skills. Although our students have significant support needs, Benton is a school that welcomes and treats these learners with dignity, as "children first", with the disability as a challenge for both the staff and students to overcome together.
