It is derived from the experiences and research of Dr. Maria Montessori and guidance provided by her. Today, research has proved what Dr. Montessori knew to be true in the early 1900's: That the first few years of a child's life are crucial to personality and intellectual development. She wrote: "The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the period from birth to age six. For that is the time when man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement is being formed. But, not only his intelligence, the full totality of his psychic powers...at no age has the child greater need of an intelligent help, and any obstacle that impedes his creative work will lessen the chance he has of achieving perfection." Our philosophy as a Montessori school is, therefore, to provide a nurturing learning environment that allows your child the freedom to make discoveries and learn, while providing ground rules and programmed material that allows him/her to move from hands on concrete manipulation to abstract mastery.
